Pharmacology is a branch of medical and pharmaceutical science that deals with the study of drugs and the action of various medications. Applied pharmacology deals with the usage of drugs in medical practice and its application in therapeutics. Specifically, the latter is the study of the interactions that happen between the living body and the chemical substances.

Overview

Pharmacology deals with scientific study of drugs and their effects on living systems. Pharmacology is crucial for discovering new drugs, improving efficacy, reducing adverse drug reactions, understanding pharmacogenetic variation in drug response etc. It forms the backbone of rational therapeutics.
The Pharmacology department aims to educate students about basic and applied pharmacology by implementing novel teaching-learning approaches such as computer assisted learning (CAL), Problem Based Learning (PBL), Flipped classroom activity, Small group discussions, Quiz, Seminars, Role play etc. Department is committed to promote research in the basic & applied pharmacology including drug development based on Pharmacogenetics & Pharmacogenomic profile, Pharmacoepidemiology, Chronopharmacology etc.
